Natural Face Makeup for Sept 18 2012

Hey Friends!

So recently I went to visit my friend Misty in Dallas, I am sure you will hear more about her in my personal blog.  When I was there, I kind of suggested, offerred okay maybe I begged a little if she would let me do her makeup an straighten her hair for our evening out.  She is a new mommy and so doesnt spend a lot of time on herself because she is busy doing a 1000 other things.  I will post pics of our visit on my other page later this week.  So anyways, she liked it for evening but would like something a little lighter and natural for daily use.

So yesterday she asked me to do a more natural look for my makeup this morning and to post what I used.  So I of course took up the challenge and knowing her I hid my foundation (sad face) and eyeliners (super sad face) and bright lipstick (sad face with tears).  At this point I dont understand..what do you mean you dont want foundation, bright lipstick or eyeliner..those are my must haves lol.  But none the less she likes the less makeup so here we go:

First Step:  my face was freshly cleaned and I always apply a moisturizer and most days a dual moisturizer/sunscreen.  Today I used my Kiehl's  facial moisturizer I carry in my makeup bag.  Leaves your face moisturized and fresh. Let it dry.
Second Step:Then I apply a lip balm, I used  a Bath and Body works Lemon flavored lip balm, to keep my lips hydrated and looking good before I apply lipstick.  If I am doing a deep color on my lips I will apply this at least 30 min before bc I want my lips smooth but I want the color to be at its most vibrant.
Third Step:  I skipped foundation and powder for this look because this allows some basic coverage for blemishes or dark spots but allows minimum coverage and doesn't make your face feel heavy.  It is also very very quick.  I suggest once you mark your spots, which for me I put it under my eyes, on my forehead in the middle, under my nose and on my chin. I let it sit for about a minute and then will blend with my finger by gently blotting the concealer into the skin, careful not to rub it away but letting it blend into the skin.
Fourth Step:  I used one Eyeshadow Trio by Cover Girl. in the color Cafe au Lait.    Its a shimmer trio with a white, neutral shimmer beige and a shimmer brown.  Now this is one of my favorite go to eyeshadow trios.  I like both shimmer and mattes but for this look and for my skin I tend to use a shimmer eyeshadow for a natural eye look.  So I start by using the white and running it under my eyebrow start from the out and going to the corner of my eye. I am using a small fluffy brush from NYX.  Next, I take the middle beige color and cover my entire lid all the way up to the white.  Depending on your skin color you may need to get darker shades.  Note: most days I use a eyelid primer to help give your eye a clean base and it helps keep your eyeshadow on longer but I skipped it for this look.  I wanted it to be basic, easy and natural.   Then I take a small brush and take the brown and start in my outer crease and run my brush through the crease of the eye socket.  Then I pick up more product and start in the corner near my lash line and brush some there.  I then take my fluffy brush and blend it all together creating no lines.  This took me all of about 3 minutes.

Fifth Step:  I am a stickler for eyebrows. They can literally change your entire look with a few swipes of shadow or stick. I usually use a eyebrow stick but I opted to use a matte eyebrown shadow for a more natural and easier way to fill in your brows.  So the easiest way to do this is to get a small eye shadow brush and pick up a little product on the tip.  Start at the end of your brows where you want to focus most of your attention.  Pick up more product with your brush and move into the middle of your brow filling in any spaces. I would suggest do a little at a time to not mess up. You dont want them overly dark or look like they were drawn on.  If you feel they are too dark, take a cu-tip and just blot your eyebrows with it to remove some excess product.
Sixth Step:  I also normally use an eyelash curler but I also skipped this step as well.  I opted for my Maybelline Mega Lush Volume Mascara in Black and gave some simple coats on my top and one coat on my bottom lashes.

Seventh Step:  I used Maybelline Dream Mouse Blush in Peach Satin. This is a very easy blush, its creamy and goes on smooth.  I used my fingers to apply and started at the apples of my cheek and ran my fingers up the cheek bone towards my hair line and just smudged it in. This is very natural looking leaving your cheeks with a slight flush that looks natural.  You can totally skip this if your cheeks tend to be pink and you arent wearing foundation.
Eighth Step: Last but not least, I used my clinique lipstick in Poppy Shine.  I just ran the lipstick over my lips, over the lip balm which makes the already light lipstick color even more sheer. This gives my lips a little bit of color without being overwhelming.

This look took me about 15 minutes or less to do and by the way I did it in the car while my husband drove us to work.  Hope you like it and if you have any other looks you want me to try let me know.

LOVE YA, CHAR!
